Dan Hale, a 2005 RCC graduate, won an honorable mention in the multimedia category Sunday March 30 at the 2008 Southern Short Course in Charlotte, NC. Hale is currently a staff photographer at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Amelia Phillips, of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and 2005 RCC graduate, won the POYi Award Of Excellence for her photograph of "THE SOLDIER'S WIFE". Her image was part of a year-long photostory she did of a wife who's husband had been deployed to Iraq.

RCC photojournalism student Ashley Garner placed second in the sports action category of the 2007 NCPPA Photos of the Year contest out of 106 entries. The winning photo depicts Valiant from the Neon Twins wrestling at the Boys and Girls Club in Asheboro.

Dearing, who is currently a RCC photojournalism student, made the photographs while interning at the Charleston Post and Courier last semester.

2005 BioCommunications graduate Amelia Phillips won an honorable mention in the Local Portraits and Personality category during the National Press Photographers' Association Best of Photojournalism competition this week. Phillips' winning image was taken while she was an intern at the Kane County Chronicle in Illinois last year.

The Photography Program at Randolph Community College is pleased to announce the sixth presentation in the Jerry Howell Lecture Series. Julia Dean lectured on Friday night March 2nd and 3rd, in the Photographic Technology Imaging Center on the Asheboro Campus of RCC.
Friday night Julia showed her work and the work by the photographers working with her on a collaborative project about child laborers around the world.
